We have some good news and some bad news for Xiaomi 17 Ultra fans. There’s a new leak circling the interwebs about the phone’s battery and charging speeds. It even gave away the Ultra’s dimensions, and we can’t help but compare it with the Xiaomi 17 Pro series and the older Xiaomi 15 Ultra. You’ll know why in a second.
The leak was seen on Weibo, by the way. Panda is Bald is the original source behind it. This claim definitely has some weight. It doesn’t exactly say the device’s name, but the 17U mentioned right at the start is obviously the abbreviation for Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
Black, White, Green, and Purple are the proposed color options by Panda is Bald. The new teaser by Xiaomi's latest Redmi model does confirm the White option. Nothing can be said about the rest at this time. We had mentioned the good news at the start. This phone definitely has a bigger battery than the old Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The version before it had a 6000mAh cell, which was decent. But this 17 Ultra bumps the capacity to 6800mAh, and that’s even more impressive to see on this series. Sadly, this is not the perfection we have come to expect from Ultra flagship phones.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is still behind the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, which has a 7500mAh cell. It’s confusing and certainly contradicts the series hierarchy. This 700mAh capacity difference will cut the phone’s endurance by a few hours. That’s the bad news.
Anyway, the leak also says the phone has a 100W charging, faster than before. The company will also ensure wireless charging on this phone, though “Panda is Bald” didn’t reveal a specific number. He did comment on the phone’s thinner dimensions and weight.
The new 17 Ultra will drop the phone’s thickness by at least 1.4mm. We saw 9.4mm and 229 grams of weight on the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. The leak here says 8mm and 227 grams of weight. Well, the weight is on the heavier side, but at least the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is leaner this time.
