In an understated release, Vivo has unveiled the Vivo Y78m in China, a new addition to its existing Y78 series, which already features Vivo Y78 and Y78+. Notably, the newly introduced Vivo Y78m resembles the standard Y78 introduced earlier this year in May. With apparent similarities, the device offers distinct color options and memory configurations.

The Vivo Y78m boasts a 6.64-inch LCD panel with an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2388 pixels, resulting in a 19.9:9 aspect ratio. The display flaunts a 120Hz refresh rate, a 1500:1 contrast ratio, and a DCI-P3 color gamut. This setup leads to an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91.06 percent.

Positioned on its front, the Y78m houses an 8MP selfie camera, while its rear accommodates a 50MP primary sensor alongside a 2MP portrait lens. Running on Android 13 and FunTouch OS 13, the smartphone features a side-facing fingerprint sensor for added security.

At its core, the Vivo Y78m employs the Dimensity 7020 chipset, a rebranded version of the Dimensity 930. The older Y78 has three configurations: 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. In contrast, the Vivo new Y model offers a single variant with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.

Both devices mount an equally impressive 5,000mAh battery, supported by 44W fast charging. The Y78m inherits other notable features such as dual SIM support, 5G capabilities, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, a USB-C port, and a traditional 3.5mm audio jack.

Regarding cost and availability, the Vivo Y78m features a price tag of 1,999 Yuan (~$275/~PKR 83,000) for the 12GB+256GB edition in China. While it is not yet available for purchase in the Chinese market, potential buyers can look forward to a choice of black and blue color options.
