Vivo Y500i Found on China Telecom Listing, Confirms Launch Date & Key Specs

Vivo Y500i has hit the China Telecom listing, which means it will soon launch as a third addition to the Y500 family. There’s already a basic and Pro version out there. The Y500i is simply a more affordable, slightly cut-back variant among the three. It does come with a twist, though. Here’s all you need to know about the Vivo Y500i.

The Y500 Pro is still fresh in our memory, and recalling its specs, this model has a 7000mAh battery. That’s more than enough to last two full days without recharging, on light usage, of course. But the Vivo Y500i plans to one-up the existing Pro version in the battery category.

This China Telecom listing has verified publicly that the Y500i is built around a 7200mAh battery — a bit larger than the Pro. It’s still behind the basic Y500 (China) that has its own staggering 8200mAh cell. There’s nothing else that’s remotely impressive about its hardware.

The listing has exposed most of the specs, so we don’t have to rely on leaks here. The Y500i has an entry-level HD+ 720p LCD. It’s 6.75” in size, and the render shows the Vivo price list, featuring a design that almost looks like the Vivo S50. But don’t make too much of it, because the Y500i is quite underpowered in comparison.

The newcomer has a thicker-than-average build of ~8.4mm depth and 219g. The Y500i uses a 50MP Main camera. There’s also a 5MP selfie — not the best combination, but serviceable. The fingerprint reader is located on the power button, not the screen.

They are picking up the modern hardware and software for the Y500i with Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and Android 16, but it’s not ideal if you want a snappy device that reacts in milliseconds. There’s a good amount of storage and RAM options for this phone.

They start the Y500i off with 8/256GB. The storage levels up to 512GB, and the RAM to 12GB, as you increase the budget. Of course, you also get the usual WiFi, Bluetooth, and NFC actions with this handset. It will launch on January 16th. We’ll discover the rest of its specs and pricing then. Keep watching the news for updates.
