Vivo Y500i Unveiled with Massive 7,200mAh Battery & 1,200nits High-Brightness LCD

The Chinese market sees a new Y500 variant. There’s a new design here with a big battery. This one’s called the Vivo Y500i, and it’s obviously cheaper than the vanilla and Pro models in the same family. Down below is everything you should know about the all-new Vivo Y500i.

Its battery is bigger than the vanilla model, which is odd given its price and position. What we have here is a 7200mAh cell. That’s a standard Li-ion pack, not a Si/C one. So it’s pretty thick in profile as well. They’ve measured it at 8.49mm with a heavy 219g build.

That new design will show two cameras on the back. There’s an ordinary flash here, plus a ring LED, which is probably an alert or notification indicator. Anyway, the lenses are home to a 50MP Main shooter. The second camera might be there to assist.

There’s a selfie camera as well, on the screen. But it’s disappointing. That punch hole only houses a 5MP selfie snapper, so don’t expect good results from it. Vivo Y500i is all about battery and durability, perhaps. They say it’s IP68/IP69 rated. By the way, Vivo smartphone prices depend on several key factors, including the device's specifications, its features, build quality, and design.

Of course, it’s fully water and dustproof with those TUV ratings. But it also has SGS certification for gold 5-star durability. Drop safety is usually a part of their testing. The newcomer still has a 3.5mm headphone jack, so it does set an example for other brands: you don’t need to remove the headphone jack for dust and water protection.

The screen has very fine borders on this new Y500i. But it’s still an IPS HD+ LCD with only 720p resolution. This is a 6.75” panel of 1200nits high brightness. The only saving grace for this LCD is a 120Hz refresh rate, and we suspect the phone can handle the screen well with its chipset.

They’ve built the Y500i around a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip, which allows 5G support as well. There’s a maximum of 12GB RAM here with 512GB storage, but those are obviously more expensive trims. The Bluetooth is version 4.2. We also have a side Fingerprint and an infrared remote here. Vivo Y500i’s base price in China is CNY 1,499 (~PKR 60,000) for the 8/128GB model.
