Vivo Y1s Unveiled with a Notched Display, MediaTek Helio P35 Processor and a 4,030 mAh battery

Vivo's newest budget release, the Vivo Y1s has just been quietly unveiled on Vivo's global webpage. It combines a previous-gen build with a trendy, modern design, rounded off by the most entry-level internals you’ll find on the market, which makes the Y1s Vivo's most budget-friendly model yet.

Let’s start with the notched Y1s screen that Vivo calls, ‘Halo FullView’ display. It’s a 6.22” HD+ panel that reaches an 88.6% screen-to-body ratio and filters out blue light for a more comfortable viewing experience.

Design is a department where Vivo rarely comprises and the same is the case with the Y1s, despite being an entry-level handset. A featherweight 161g body complements its slim bezel profile with soft, round corners and edges.

The Vivo Y1s design language extends to the rear-facing panel, minimal all-around featuring a single camera in a compact, round housing. It’s painted in Aurora Blue — featuring a soft blend of white, blue, and purple — and Olive Black — an onyx black and turquoise gradient despite ranking down below in the Vivo price list.

The rear camera of Y1s by Vivo has a modest 13MP sensor behind it, and the front camera inside the notch embeds a primary 5MP lens with an f/1.8 aperture, augmented with ‘AI Face Beauty’. It also recognizes your face to unlock your device since there’s no fingerprint scanner support.

MediaTek’s Helio P35 platform, a 4,030 mAh battery, 2GB/3GB of memory, and 32GB of storage — expandable up to 256GB with a microSD card — power the Y1s. It boots to the FuntouchOS 10.5 (built on Android 10) that supports custom animations and a dedicated dark mode. It starts from $109 (~Rs. 18,000 without taxes), but there are no details available as to if/when it lands in Pakistan.
