Vivo X500 Pro Max debuted with the most decked-out camera setup in its class, possibly even better than the X300 Ultra. You may think that last year’s phone had a 200MP main sensor, so how can the X500 Pro Max possibly claim better quality with a 50MP unit? The newcomer actually defies expectations, and here are some camera samples to prove just that.
Resolution rarely matters for modern smartphone cameras. Post-processing is a huge factor, and then there’s sensor size and lens aperture. Dynamic range has been a big part of this evolution. Each factor is equally important to pull the best image quality out of those small sensors.
Vivo new X mobile has one of the best triple camera setups of all time, and it starts with the main camera, which is a 50MP unit. That’s a 1/1.28” sensor, and it’s their first attempt at testing out LOFIC to give it the best dynamic range possible. This sensor has OIS as well. We’ll put the camera samples somewhere in the post.
There isn’t just the main camera. The one next to it is a 200MP periscope telephoto shooter, and it’s a 1/1.4” sensor with OIS. Its zoom range is actually 85mm (f/2.7). But that’s just half the story. Vivo encourages you to pick up an official teleconverter extender lens kit with the X500 Pro Max.
GSMArena shot all the photos you see here. And the ones taken on the teleconverter lenses have camera stamps: 242mm to 400mm range. Again, the camera samples are right here, and they show an insane DSLR-style bokeh effect and zoom range.
There’s one more camera on the back. Vivo X500 Pro Max also has a 119° FoV ultrawide sensor at 50MP resolution. It’s an f/2.0 unit at 15mm. And there’s AutoFocus on it, so it technically works as a macro lens too. These cameras do 17 EV true Dynamic range and output 10-bit and 10-bit 422 APV LOG recordings. Vivo X500 Pro Max does 4K 240 FPS or 8K 30 FPS videos as well.
