Vivo X500 Camera Specs Appear in Leak; Primary Sensor to be Demoted to 50MP

‌The Vivo X500 series will debut sometime around September. There will be three devices in the lineup. We heard some bad news about the basic Vivo X500 today that we thought was worth sharing with the readers. The main camera on the phone is getting demoted. This is everything we found in the leak.

We all know that the basic version in the X300 series had a 200MP sensor on the main, and it was a big deal when they made the jump from the X200’s basic 50MP outsole. Digital Chat Station has put a post on Weibo that seems to predict the return of a 50MP main camera on the X500.

DCS has found exactly what sensors are being used on each of the Vivo X500’s cameras. There’s a 50MP main 1/1.28” Sony shooter in the first silo. 50MP ultrawide is exactly the same as last time; no changes there. And the leak says there’s no 50MP telephoto on the Vivo new X Mobile.

They will put a 64MP 1/2-inch Sony unit in the periscope telephoto lens this time, which should be better than the 50MP HP5 they had for the X300. 70mm is the focal length you can expect out of this zoom camera. Only time will tell how accurate these details are, but DCS is usually accurate with his predictions.

By the way, the leak on Weibo didn’t say anything about the hardware. So we had to do a little more digging. It turns out Vivo X500 may be pushing for a slightly bigger 6.37” screen, so this is still a compact model, but you get more real estate for content.

There’s also supposed to be a 7500mAh battery on this newcomer. That’s quite the cell size for such a tiny handset. Then comes the performance. Vivo X500 is probably locked in for a Dimensity 9500, which is sadly the same as the older X300. Still, it’s a flagship chip and hasn’t gone stale just yet. Keep watching the news for updates.
