Vivo V20 Is Allegedly Launching in October; Leaked Renders Reveal a Familiar Design

Apart from the new entrants like Vivo Y51 to the Y series, The Chinese tech is also introducing the sequels to its 2020 models ahead of their yearly schedule. Following only five months of the Vivo V19 release, the V20 is slated for release next month, report the sources. The report details a few core specifications, while a separate publication gives us a peek at the alleged mockups. Let’s talk about the V20 series.

Vivo’s new-found design language launched with the X50 flagship series makes another return, highlighted the ‘big eye’ camera layout. The camera plate on Vivo V20 is boxy with beveled edges, a chin, and a housing for three sensors.

The main V20 sensor rests on top of two smaller, identical sized sensors. Save for the accenting chin, the entire housing is painted jet-black — presenting a striking contrast against the duotone blue-to-pink gradient and blending in with the halftone charcoal colorway.

Around the front panel of Vivo V20, two cameras are laid out inside a trimmed hole punch (which now lies in the left corner instead of right). The main selfie camera is a 44MP sensor — as seen in a partial teaser banner —  while the secondary lens is speculated to be an ultra-wide camera. Alll in all a valuable addition to the Vivo price list.

The specifics for this screen are anyone’s guess but if the V19 series is anything to go by, you might be looking at an AMOLED display, albeit with a slightly heavier bezel profile.

The source notes that Vivo is watering down the processor from the more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 to the last-gen Snapdragon 665 mobile platform. While Vivo V20 inherits 8GB of memory from its predecessor, given a weaker chipset, we’d expect its performance to take a dip.
