The Pova lineup was originally meant to be Tecno’s own gaming series, but later they peeled off a few devices to be the regular daily drivers. They are going back to the status quo with the Tecno Pova 8 Pro, which apparently has tons of features meant for hardcore gaming.
This was unveiled on the global website, by the way, so the Pova 8 Pro might actually end up in several regions, maybe in Pakistan as well. By the way, they made some cosmetic changes and gave the phone a car theme on the Tecno POVA 8 Pro Lamborghini Edition.
They’ve put a Dimensity 7400 Ultimate chip on this newcomer, which more or less makes this phone a midrange gaming handset. We found that its memory options max out at 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Lamborghini Edition has the same stuff.
They’ve put a custom P1 chip in this handset just so they can unlock 144Hz gaming on the Tecno latest Pova mobile by frame interpolation, or as we like to call it: frame generation. RPG games get 90FPS, and first-person shooters hit 144FPS on this newcomer.
Alive Matrix Display is something else that’s special about the Pova 8 Pro. This is a B&W mini LED screen on the back confined to a space on the camera island, and it’s 100% customizable to do whatever you like. Beyond that, the design here is just as eccentric as it should be on a gaming phone.
The screen’s the main part. You’ll do all your gaming on a 6.78” HyperLUX AMOLED that has 4500 nits peak brightness. This is a 144Hz display, by the way, and it’s 1.5K in resolution. It even has 2,800Hz instant touch sampling. The fingerprint reader is on the screen, of course.
They’ve put a 5,000mm2 VC cooling strip in the phone, so the chip doesn’t throttle. This also happens to lie on the battery, so that gets cooled as well. It’s a 6500mAh cell that does 45W fast charging. Pova 8 Pro is not meant for photography, but it still has a 50MP main + 8MP ultrawide.
They’ve put a 13MP selfie snapper up front. The IP rating on this phone will go all the way to IP69K. And yes, it does have dual speakers and a 4D haptic motor. No Android 17 on the phone. It’s actually Android 16 by default with HiOS 16 skin. Tecno didn’t reveal its price for the standard or Lamborghini Edition.
