Tecno Camon Slim Unveiled with Mondrian Tile Design and Rear Matrix LED Display

Tecno Camon Slim has been officially introduced today. And it brings back the Mondrian block design of the Camon 19 Pro era. It’s supposed to be an ultra-thin phone, though it’s not as aggressive as the older Pova and Spark Slim handsets. This is everything you need to know.

Tecno Camon Slim is still a curved unibody handset. But its thickness is actually 6.39mm. This design is pretty slim. Though it didn’t level the thickness with the other Slim phones from Tecno, and it’s for good reason. There are five paint jobs. The Mondrian version will probably draw the crowds.

The Mondrian color blocks won’t show themselves unless you hit them with ultraviolet light. So basically, all you need to do is walk out into the sunlight with the Tecno new Camon model. The white color will change to the yellow/green/cyan blocks. But there’s obviously more to the design here.

The Camon Slim does look like the others, but it cleverly hides a matrix LED panel between the spaced-out lenses. It’s built with 354 LEDs, by the way. Tecno gave a video demo to show what you can do with this rear display. Of course, the phone also brings back the RGB rings around the lenses that we saw on Pova and Spark Slim.

Two lenses are shown here. One is a real camera, and the other seems to be auxiliary. A 50MP Lytia 600 unit is used for the main lens. There’s a 32MP selfie unit right on top of the screen. Speaking of, the front panel seems to be a 6.78” AMOLED with very fine bezels at the edges.

It’s 1.5k resolution, and this screen will push pixels at 144Hz. It was said that the Camon Slim would be a 5G phone. But the leaks were apparently wrong. It’s actually just a 4G build. It’s built around a Helio G200 chip. Who knows? May the 5G plans were changed due to surging RAM/Storage prices? Maybe there’s still a separate 5G version on the way?

This newcomer does have 128GB and 256GB storage options with 8GB RAM. So it didn’t cut corners there. Camon Slim has the best battery and charging among the three siblings. There’s a 5600mAh cell and 60W fast input. They didn’t say anything about the phone’s price. We assume the availability and cost will be announced per market.
