The budget-sensitive brand Tecno recently unveiled two new Camon phones. Having made their debut in Africa, the Tecno Camon 17 and the Camon 17 Pro are now headed to Pakistan. WhatMobile’s sources report the launch timeline.

The duo is slated for release in Pakistan on June 11. We also expect a short pre-order window before the Camon 17 series goes up for sale. This Camon series is the first in its line to offer high screen refresh rates, dual stereo speakers, and fast charging. The prices, while still competitive, have risen from the last generation too.

Tecno Camon 17 Pro

We start with the Camon 17 Pro that features a massive 6.8” LCD that delivers a full HD resolution at a responsive 90Hz refresh rate. The screen has a hole-punch cutout in its center and hits 500 nits of peak brightness. At the same time, the bezels have grown thicker.

The chipset at the heart of Camon 17 Pro is the Helio G95, running on a 5000 mAh battery. It charges over a USB-C port and 25W of power. You get 8GB of memory for smooth multitasking and 256GB of internal storage.

Tecno hasn’t cut corners on the cameras. We’re looking at the following quad-camera array: a 64MP f/1.8 lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a pair of 2MP macro and B&W sensors. The Camon 17 Pro rocks a 48MP camera for selfies.

The build is nothing novel. It’s made of a plastic shell available in silver and blue colors. A side-mounted thumbprint reader, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and immersive dual speakers round off the Tecno Camon 17 Pro. WhatMobile puts its price at Rs. 44,999.

Tecno Camon 17

The Tecno Camon 17 is a more standard affair. Its IPS screen measures 6.6” across and peaks at a 720P resolution but maintains the 90Hz refresh rate. The front camera here is 16MP; the rear camera features a 48MP wide lens, a 2MP depth-mapping sensor, and one unspecified camera to pad the count.

MediaTek Helio G85 powers the Camon 17, along with a 5000 mAh battery and the Android11-based HiOS. You get 4GB/6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. It also supports fast charging, but the speed is capped at 18W.

No additional bells and whistles are offered with the Camon 17. It comes in silver, green, and blue, starting from Rs. 34,999.
