Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide Edition) Set for Global Rollout After GSMA Certification

We may see two Galaxy Z Fold 8 versions this year. One of them is specifically made to compete with the Apple iPhone Fold. No official name has been given to this version, but we do know it's a wider Galaxy Z Fold 8. This device was just seen on the GSMA database. There is a chance it could launch globally.

The exact name wasn’t listed on the GSMA filing. But we have discovered that its internal code is H8. The regular Galaxy Z Fold 8 is supposed to have the code Q8, the successor to last year’s Q7, AKA Galaxy Z Fold 7. So understandably, there’s a lot of curiosity around that entirely new Galaxy H8 model.

Reports suggest that H8 is a wider version of the Samsung latest Fold model. This is probably built upon the same aspect ratio as the iPhone Fold. Apparently, this newcomer is shorter than the regular Z Fold 8 and wider, like the original Pixel Fold. The aspect ratio is said to be 1:1 or 18:18 on the inner screen.

This new design is supposed to give us a better full-screen video view. That is something the current folding phones can’t do properly, as they waste a lot of real estate in full-screen videos. There’s still a question of whether the Wide Z Fold 8 will share the specs with its regular Z Fold 8 sibling.

We assume all those questions will be answered in time, close to the launch date. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is definitely built around a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It’s at the bleeding edge, of course, and there’s supposed to be an even thinner design for the newcomer this year.

The camera and display upgrades will be minimal, though. We can’t argue with the possibility of the same 4400mAh battery this time around. And if that’s the case, no charging upgrade should be expected either.

Anyway, it’s too early to predict anything about the Z Fold 8 series. We suggest you take this news with a dose of healthy sarcasm. And keep watching the news because we’ll have more updates on this topic soon.
