Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 Appear on IMEI Database Alongside a Third Model

There might be a third device in Samsung’s foldable series this year. That’s not an assumption anymore. GSMA’s IMEI database has updated the approval list for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8, but there’s also an elusive third model here, which definitely deserves a headline.

Context is important here before we disclose anything. The new listings didn’t have the device’s exact names. You should know that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 had market names Q7 and B7 (respectively). The IMEI database listings for the two new models mention Q8 and B8. These are definitely the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 in succession.

The model numbers were also given on the database. Samsung's latest Fold model has been assigned the serial “SM-F976U.” There’s also an “SM-F776U” code that presumably belongs to the Z Flip 8. They both have the suffix U, which is usually the letter Samsung assigns to US-bound handsets.

The global versions will have “B” at the end if, at some point, they appear on any certifications. We’ve established credentials for two out of the three devices here. “SM-F971U” is the third device, which was found on the IMEI database back in early December.

At the time, there was an air of mystery around it, but everything became crystal clear today. The SM-F971U could be the new and cheaper Galaxy Z Fold FE. By the way, this one has a market name H8. That’s a completely new internal code for this Fold category.

July and August 2026 are the possible launch months for the Z Fold 8 lineup. That’s not something Samsung will budge on. Though we can’t be sure if Galaxy Z Fold FE has the same timeline or not. We’ll get back to you if there are anymore updates on that matter. So stay tuned.
