We know that the Samsung Galaxy S26 FE will deploy Android 17 One UI 9 as the default system out of the box, though a firmware leak showed an image onboard that may actually belong to One UI 9.5. Confused? Well, here’s why this seemingly minute hint matters, and why the leak is blowing up on the internet.
One UI 9 is still locked to the Galaxy S26 series in beta, and the Z Fold 8 duo. Potentially seeing this OS on the Galaxy S26 FE at launch was already quite a big deal, but now we have proof that they will eventually drop One UI 9.5 on this handset down the wire.
One UI 9.5 is in active development, it seems. Samsung users among the readers must be familiar with a banner image that appears in the Software Updates menu when a big OS update comes. We’ve seen the banner image they used for the One UI 8.5 update. And then we got familiar with the banner for One UI 9.
The banner will obviously be different for One UI 9.5. Now we know exactly what it looks like (credits to Sammobile). The update section screenshot they published in their report says it all. And by the way, this isn’t all they extracted from Samsung latest S model leaked firmware.
They were also able to discover the newcomer’s default wallpapers, which we assume are part of the standard One UI 9 homescreen. Sadly, this looks exactly like the wallpapers on the Galaxy S26 series with a big “S” illustration art. That’s obviously the Galaxy S symbol.
Anyway, the S26 FE could launch this month, either by the end or probably at the start of September like last year. The older S25 FE opened sales officially on September 4th. Who knows. Maybe history will repeat itself. Keep watching the news for more updates.
