Samsung Galaxy A53 and A33 Receive Android 16 Update with One UI 8 Globally

Samsung just updated the Galaxy A73 in Asia. The next round of the One UI 8 rollout is for Galaxy A53 and A33, the phones from 2022. They started at Android 12 with four years of OS support, so this is going to be their last major update. Here are the contents of the Android 16 OS for Galaxy A53 and A33.

You’ll need firmware numbers to recognize the update when it hits your phone, so here’s what you look for: “A336BXXUEGYI8” and “A536BXXUHGYI9.” These are the two OS builds for A33 and A53 currently rolling out in Europe, after spending a whole week in Korea.

Pakistani locals have to be a little patient here, as the update may take a few more days to arrive on local Galaxy A33 or A53 devices. We are pretty sure the contents of this update are common across the board. Whatever changes are being made to European devices, Pakistan will see as well.

Anyway, here’s what’s inside this update you should be looking forward to. Some stock apps will look different after the update. It’s the usual set of upgrades we’ve been seeing on other devices. One UI 8 is mostly a UI overhaul with some performance tweaks and barely any new features.

Quick Share now has a more intuitive UI. Alarm, Calendar, and Reminder apps also reorganize some UI elements and update the item management features. This update makes the A33 and A53’s firmwares even more customizable than before on One UI 7.

This new update has a September 2025 security patch as well. They switched the core system to Android 16, so the download package is quite hefty. Better stick to a WiFi network when installing the update for your Galaxy A33 and A53 models.

You should receive an alert on your A33 or A53 when the update’s out in Pakistan. Then, all you need to do is go to Settings and the Software Updates menu, and tap Download and install. The device will pull the firmware from Samsung servers, and after a quick reboot, it should welcome you the the latest One UI 8 homescreen.
