The beta program has wrapped up. The stable Android 16 x One UI 8 update has finally gone official for the budget A series. The deployment begins with their latest Galaxy A36 and A56 models in South Korea. Each device scores a September 2025 security patch with the updated One UI 8 firmware.
This new update will eventually expand to other regions, though it’s currently pinging Galaxy A36 and A56 devices in Korea. The stable One UI 8 firmware has been recognized by the code “A366NKSU2BYI9” on the cheaper Galaxy A36 and “A566SKSU2BYI5” on the higher-end Galaxy A56. The numbers may look a bit different in other regions.
The contents of this update aren’t entirely different on each handset. This hefty download package brings an Android 16 core and One UI 8 skin with the September security patch. The beta program introduced the same patch to voluntary firmware testers but had limited bug fixes.
We have to wait and see what the September 2025 stable patch brings to these phones. The One UI 8 update is built around UI overhaul, privacy, and feature improvements on the latest Samsung 5G mobiles. The stock Files and Samsung Browser app have been redesigned now for visual continuity in the firmware.
Quick Share now has a more intuitive UI. Alarm, Calendar, and Reminder apps also reorganize some UI elements and update the item management features. This update makes the A36 and A56’s firmwares even more customizable than before on One UI 7.
The phones with Auto-Updates turned on will download the One UI 8 in the background as soon as the update reaches your A36 or A56. If that isn’t you, your phone may send you an alert of a possible new update that has been unlocked for your device.
The update will soon reach countries outside Korea and arrive in Pakistan in a matter of weeks. No one knows the exact schedule, but you should keep an eye on it by frequently checking your mobile Settings >> Software Updates and tapping Check for Update. Once available, you’ll get a “Download and Install” button with a Changelog. Tap that, and the phone will automatically update to Android 16 x One UI 8.
