Samsung Galaxy A35 Closes the Beta Program; Stable One UI 8 Update Begins Rollout

The new One UI 8 Android 16 update continues to arrive on more Galaxy devices. Samsung Galaxy A35 users are next up on the list, as the update was last seen rolling out in an Asian market. Having said that, this specific version of the update has a catch, so don’t go celebrating just yet. Here’s what we know.

This is a smaller OTA update, almost 270 MB, and it’s essentially a termination call for the users who were enrolled in the beta program. This update will transfer them to a stable One UI 8 Android 16. But there’s a silver lining for folks who weren’t a part of this beta testing.

This rollout is a sign that the One UI 8 will soon hit the remaining Galaxy A35 devices for non-beta users. They ended the Beta program on Samsung's budget new mobile in Korea and several other markets last week, and India grabbed this closing update a few hours ago.

We found some details in the screengrab that was shared by Tarun Vats on X. This new firmware has been assigned the code A356EXXU5CYI8, and apparently, there’s a September patch included with this build. Since the beta-enrolled Galaxy A35s grabbed the new One UI 8 early, the changelog is pretty much a closing statement, not a list of features.

Anyways, we already know what the One UI 8 generally has in store, since we’ve been covering its ongoing rollout for several weeks now. There’s a UI overhaul and a systemwide upgrade to Android 16. Simply put, the phone lands some new Google security and privacy tools.

Some stock apps will look different after the update. They’ve redesigned how the Files app home page and Samsung Internet browser look. The Quick panel and the notification shade will also look a bit different. Quick Share will open in full screen from now on with separate Send and Receive tabs, and the weather app has been updated with new 3D animations.

Samsung members and beta testers will automatically receive the update. Those Galaxy A35 users who haven’t received the stable One UI 8 should check the Software Update menu. Surely enough, Samsung is preparing a wider rollout, and you’ll see the Download option in the Settings in the next few days.
