The January patch has reached the Galaxy A series from 2022. We’ve just found out that Samsung is now updating the Galaxy A33 in South Korea. Of course, the information was out as soon as the OTA hit the first A33 device in their home market. This is what the January 2026 patch will entail on this device.

By the way, the patch itself hasn’t changed, and it has the same set of improvements the other Galaxy phones have had after the update. The January security patch will address 55 vulnerabilities on your Galaxy A33 that the current firmware does not address.
The model they are updating now is SM-A336N (the Korean version). This update won’t stay locked to that region for long, though. The post update build number for the new firmware is “A336NKSSDGZA1.” Again, that’s a region-specific number, and you might have something different in Pakistan. Here are some details regarding the accuracy of Samsung smartphone price as of early 2026.

Samsung plans to address 55 weak points in the system that the Galaxy A33 is currently running. And they are obviously divided into segments. We have been told that 23 of them are from Google for the core Android 16 OS within this device. At least 4 of them are patches from Samsung’s Semiconductor division.
The majority of fixes are from Samsung itself. Those are 28 high-risk patches, to be exact. The Galaxy A33 needs to be updated as soon as the company unlocks the January 2026 security patch in our region, which we assume could take a few weeks.

Anyway, the update method hasn’t changed. All you have to do is go to the Settings and head over to the menu that says “Software Updates.” Tap “Check for Updates” if needed. It will test if the update has been unlocked and is available where you reside.
Of course, a Changelog will appear in that menu with the firmware version next to a Download and Install button. The rest is self-explanatory. By the way, your Galaxy A33 is still eligible for One UI 8.5; something to look forward to. Keep watching the news.
