Redmi Note 16 Pro+ Moves into Testing with 200MP Camera; Realme 16 Pro+ Follows Suit

200MP cameras are becoming a common sight on the midrange. We hear Realme plans to revive the Pro+ model and give it a 200MP main camera. Xiaomi apparently has a similar plan of action for the Redmi Note 16 Pro Plus. SmartPikachu’s new leak sheds light on this subject.

The Weibo leaker in China has learned that both Xiaomi and Realme are testing devices with a 200MP camera. There was no specific product name in the description, but the hashtag underneath says Redmi Note 16. That narrowed down the search.

It’s quite obvious that they will use a 200MP camera on a Note 16 device. Xiaomi has done it before on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+. But it’s implausible seeing that sensor on a basic Redmi Note 16. The safest bet, contrary to that hashtag, is one of the Redmi Note 16 Pro versions.

Anyway, a similar 200MP could also debut on Redmi's new flagship mobile. We picked up a leak just a few days ago. The source claimed that the standard Realme 16 Pro will pair that 200MP outsole with an 8MP Ultrawide.

The Pro Plus will have the same setup with just one extra lens for the periscope telephoto unit. That device will be more suited to an upper midrange status. Of course, this newcomer will find itself competing with the Redmi Note 16 Pro Plus in that category.

The retail cycle for the Redmi devices usually lasts a whole year, which means the Note 16 series is far. They debuted the Note 15 series in August this year. The successors will surely arrive in the same month. The details are understandably far and apart.

We did, however, come across an early leak that Redmi Note 16 Pro models will use 1.5K OLED panels. The batteries will be north of 7500mAh. That’s a decent 500mAh bump over the existing models. More leaks and stories are on the way. Keep watching the news for updates.
