Realme has started teasing the GT 8 series, and we can now confirm the existence of at least two members in the lineup. The vanilla Realme GT 8 and Realme GT 8 Pro are set to launch in China later in October, and here’s what we’ve been able to gather about these devices so far.
This duo has apparently started pre-orders in China before getting an official introduction, which is strange. Their launch date hasn’t been announced, and neither has the company shared any of their specifications. The pre-order pages in China show the step-by-step method for early booking.
The devices booked on pre-orders will get an extended warranty. Only time will tell if this offer is only for the Chinese market, or if the same perks will be available in other regions upon the wider release. These are the only official details that have surfaced so far. We look to the rumor mill for their specs.
At the beginning of this month, we came across a leaked camera island image that allegedly belongs to the Realme GT 8 Pro. The camera bump was enclosed in a case, probably to mask the phone’s real appearance, but it did verify a three-lens setup on the Pro.
Most smartphone OEMs have camera partners these days to calibrate their devices. Vivo has ZEISS, Oppo has Hasselblad, and Xiaomi has LEICA. Realme, too, has its own partner this time to calibrate the imaging setup on the Realme new GT models. It’s a global company known as “Ricoh-Imaging.”
The specs are a hit or miss, but the leaks foreshadow a 6.78” AMOLED flat screen on the GT 8 Pro with ultra-thin bezels. This is one of the company’s flagship devices, so expect a bleeding-edge display on the newcomer with all the premium bells and whistles.
We may see a 200MP periscope telephoto shooter in the GT 8 Pro — a first in the series. The GT lineup is usually meant for gaming, so a sudden focus on camera quality is a big surprise. This year’s special inclusion is a behemoth 8000mAh battery. Of course, these specs remain unconfirmed for the time being. Let’s wait for more teasers to reveal the actual details about the series. Keep watching the news for updates.
