OPPO A98 Passed by TENAA with Renders; To Debut in November Featuring a Curved Display

Earlier this week, Digital Chat Station flung a rumor on Weibo about an alleged upcoming premium successor to the last year's OPPO A96, called the A98. Despite skepticism about his claim, many believed that a device with supposed flagship specs does exist.

It seems that his claims were not far off. A smartphone codenamed "Hepburn" is in the works. Based on the freshly spotted TENAA listing, the codename belongs to an Oppo phone with model number "PHQ110." Although the document doesn't explicitly give away a name, the rumor mill believes it to be OPPO A98.

Digital chat station is an industry-renowned tipster. While the TENAA listing hasn't disclosed any helpful detail, specs leaked by the DCS could be the next best guess as to what OPPO A98 brings to the table.

With a 120Hz screen and FHD+ resolution, the new A98 could be A-series' first-ever curved-display device at an affordable OPPO price. Following the trend set by Redmi's latest 12 series, A98 will take a crack at surpassing the highest record of PWM dimming on a smartphone. The newcomer's display will leverage 2160Hz of PWM to reduce eye strain in low brightness.

Additionally, A98 will boast the highest screen-to-body ratio of any smartphone, with a chin measuring 2.3mm. DCS previously claimed the device scores a high-grade Snapdragon 778G chipset. But the chances of that happening are slimmer. The tipster now claims that a Snapdragon 695 SoC is a safe bet.

Design-wise, OPPO A98 will mimic the camera and frame topography of the Honor X40 — the images come directly from TENAA. The primary lens is said to have a 108MP sensor. Essentials might include 67W charging, NFC support, and stereo speakers.
