Oppo is gearing up to revamp the Oppo A9 with camera upgrades, better performance and release it with "2020" tacked on to the name (which, by the way, is the first instance of Oppo using a suffix with a phone’s name). Official sources released a teaser poster in Vietnam which showcases the phone touting a quad-camera setup.

The company also revealed the whole OPPO A9 2020 specifications set on their Facebook page. As per the post, the phone will be rocking a Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 665 chipset, with 8 gigs of memory and 128 gigs of storage. It impresses in the camera department too, (considering it is an entry-level smartphone) with its 48-megapixel primary shooter, coupled with 8-megapixel and a pair of 2-megapixel lenses in a vertical alignment, and a fingerprint reader placed right under the setup. Its predecessor featured a MediaTek chip with a 16-megapixel rear lens, so right off the bat, you can tell that it is a big upgrade.

Speaking of upgrades, unlike the original Oppo A9, this model will be packing a powerful 5000 mAh battery, but there’s been no speculation or official word on support for fast charging.

The teaser also reveals the two different color variants you can pick from, namely: Marine Green and Space Purple. It’ll feature a 6.53-inch display with a waterdrop notch which should remind you of last year’s Oppo F9 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. That and the fact that Oppo is following Xiaomi’s and Realme’s suit by marketing a Snapdragon 655 processor shows that Oppo is looking to give its competitors a challenge. Whether or not the Oppo A9 2020 will give them a run for their money remains to be seen, but the specs hint that it’s a solid phone.

Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, the phone is expected to come with the latest android 10 right out of the box, and it will be layered with Oppo’s Color OS 6.1.

With the chipset upgrade and the familiar design, Oppo A9 2020 can be a strong contender against Mi A3 and a few other recently released models. Oppo hasn’t announced an official release date yet but as the A9 2020 has now been announced in Vietnam, it'll soon make its appearance into the global market and might also land in Pakistan.
