The Oppo A5x was officially unveiled in May as an entry-level device. After waiting for over two months, it has finally arrived in Pakistan. The model deployed in our market has a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip, which means it is the LTE version (not to be confused with Oppo A5x 5G). Here’s what it has to offer.
It’s the perfect successor to last year’s A3x with multiple upgrades to boast. First off, the phone is more durable now, and instead of IP54, it passed the IP65 rating test from TUV. Plus, it brings back the Military-grade 810H compliance rating for a shockproof design.
The display is also stronger now as it levels up to a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, leaving the weaker Panda Glass behind. But it’s the same old display underneath: a 720p HD+ 6.67” panel built on IPS technology. It’s 1000nits bright and supports a 90Hz refresh rate for fluid visuals.
The Oppo budget new mobile is slightly bulkier than before at 8mm, though it more than makes up for it with a higher battery capacity of 6000mAh. The phone even has a 45W wired charging support, which will do a 50% power delivery in under 36 minutes.
It may have the same chip as before, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, but the A5x has the latest Android 15 system right off the bat. We also noticed that they’ve gone for a faster UFS 2.1 storage on this device, which should be way faster than Oppo A3x’s measly eMMC 5.1 standard. The apps should launch more quickly on this new model.
The camera setup also sees an upgrade. Oppo gave this new device a 32MP main camera and a 5MP selfie shooter, both of which can do 1080p 30FPS recording. There’s also a side-mounted fingerprint here, and the new Infrared port on the Oppo A5x.
Oppo has only dropped a solo 4/64GB memory trim in Pakistan, but it’s decently priced, especially for the value it brings. In the market, you should be able to snag an Oppo A5x for Rs 29,999, and buyers can choose between Midnight Blue and Laser White colors.
