Last month, the Chinese phone maker unveiled its Oppo A5i series for the global market. Now, one of the devices from the lineup, the baseline Oppo A5i, has landed in Pakistan with a surprisingly affordable price tag. The newcomer gives you an IPS display, a massive battery, and ultra-fast charging. This is all you need to know about Oppo A5i.
This device is built around a Snapdragon 6s Gen 1 chip, which is basically a rehashed Snapdragon 662 with modern features. There’s a 2.1GHz boost clock speed and an Adreno 610 GPU on the die to power your gaming sessions. Oppo has paired that chip with 4 GB of physical RAM and 64 GB of storage.
The A5i has borrowed its design from the original “Oppo A5,” but the display has been switched out. There’s no 120Hz refresh rate here. This newcomer has an IPS 6.67” display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a mediocre HD+ 720p resolution. But it does have 1000nits brightness and anti-glare coating, so outdoor visibility should be top-notch.
The Oppo budget new mobile is dual-reinforced as far as the protection is concerned. It has Panda glass on the front, and Oppo got it certified by SGS with the MIL-STD-810H rating. Also, the A5i has an IP54 water and dustproof build, not to forget the wet touch support for added convenience.
The non-Pro model that has entered Pakistan is a bit thinner at 7.68mm, but it also means a smaller battery, which in this case is 5100mAh. Still, at the price this device has launched for, its capacity is nothing to complain about. Also, the A5i has ultra-fast 45W charging, a rare quality for a sub-entry-level device.
The cameras certainly leave room for improvement on the Oppo A5i. It has an 8MP lens on the back for primary usage, with an auxiliary second lens right underneath. Its selfie camera has a 5MP sensor on top of the screen.
There’s a fingerprint ID on the side, Bluetooth/WiFi 5, expandable storage, and a 3.5mm jack on the bottom. What it doesn’t have is NFC support and an IR blaster. The Oppo A5i offers a Starry Purple or a Nebula Red finish, and it officially costs Rs 27,999 in Pakistan.
