iPhone 17 Pro Spotted in Hands-on Leak with Redesigned Camera & Softer Edges

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup in September. By now, you must have heard of the potential camera redesign coming to the Pro versions. The iPhone 17 Pro has been sighted multiple times in renders flaunting the new look, but today, we get to see this device in a few hands-on images.

Apple is taking a different direction with the iPhone 17 Pro’s design this year. You can see in the image that this device has slightly rounded edges, which are perfect for a prolonged grip. And since Android OEMs follow the trend set by Apple, the industry might finally return to the good old days of ergonomic designs.

The new rounded edges aren’t as surprising as the big camera island on the iPhone 17 Pro’s back. The rumors were right after all, as the new body does feature the camera bar spanning left to right on the device. If you are also reminded of the Xiaomi 11 Ultra design by looking at these images, you are not alone.

The camera assortment hasn’t changed whatsoever, even though the platform has. Apparently, the company decided to mount a 48MP ultrawide camera on the latest iPhone Pro model this time, and the sensor size couldn’t fit into a normal square-style lens module. That’s why the team had to extend the platform.

The camera setup on the iPhone 17 Pro is now speculated to include a 48MP Main, 48MP Ultrawide, and a 12MP telephoto unit with 5X zoom. There were reports of a unified rear imaging setup, but we are afraid that’s not the case, at least with the iPhone 17 Pro and its companions.

Jeff Pu, the analyst who keeps an eye on Apple’s supply chain for potential leaks, said that the material used for the phone’s middle frame has been downgraded. It was Titanium on the iPhone 16 Pro, but this next variant could be made of Aluminium alloy.

Of course, Apple had to make some other aesthetic adjustments to accommodate the huge camera module. The company logo on the back has been moved down a little. Also, the flash, LIDAR, and the mic are pushed to the other side. By the way, the same details are true for the iPhone 17 Pro Max as well, except for a bigger frame. We still have much to learn about the iPhone 17 series, so make sure to stick around for further leaks and updates.
