iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max Geekbench Scores Leak with Stellar Multicore Results

The iPhone 17 series will probably go official in September. Ahead of the launch, a new rumor suggests that all four models, including the base iPhone 17, will offer significant performance gains over the predecessors. Digital Chat Station claims to have found Geekbench listings for iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max to show exactly what to expect from these newcomers.

DCS posted his findings on Weibo and offered a glimpse into Apple’s new A19 Pro silicon. Apparently, this is the chip the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will be using with some disparity in performance. This is obviously a move to sharpen the divide between both tiers.

The same thing happened with the A18 Pro chip last year, which had slightly more power on the iPhone 16 Pro Max than it did with the standard Pro version. A staggering 15% single-core and 17% multicore performance disparity was observed between both phones.

Let’s talk about A19 Pro’s Geekbench scores for a minute. DCS reported that this new chip can beat almost all flagship SoCs currently available in the market. It scores upwards of 4000 points on single-core Geekbench tests and around 10,000 points in multicore results.

It’s boasting MacBook’s level of performance at this point. The MacBook Air M2 yields 9,688 points in multicore tests recorded at Geekbench 6. The A18 Pro silicon had 3,490 and 8,606 scores on the same benchmark. Apple’s A19 Pro chip on the iPhone latest pro models has pushed the scores beyond anything we have seen on a mobile platform.

Of course, this A19 Pro chip won’t be alone to transpire the Geekbench database. Qualcomm has its own flagship chip in the making called the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, which will be almost as good if not better. MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 is also coming soon to compete as a flagship SoC.

Another surprise we’ll get the iPhone 17 series is a high refresh rate on all four models. Each device is supposedly clocked at 120Hz, including the iPhone 17. The only caveat is that the baseline variant won’t feature the variable refresh rate. The LTPO ProMotion technology will remain exclusive to iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. We still have much to uncover about the iPhone 17 series before it’s launched, so stay tuned for more updates.
