Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra Gain 20% More Endurance with Upgraded Batteries

It has been reported multiple times that Samsung is finally letting go of the 4400mAh battery on its Z Fold family. This year’s dual Z Fold strategy is coming with a big upgrade. Earlier leaks predicted the exact figures, and they were 100% accurate as the EU’s EPREL registry just confirmed the battery sizes on Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra.

One of the phones that’s smaller in size, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, has a 4800mAh battery that’s already bigger than the Z Fold 7’s 4400mAh. And yes, it does affect endurance, by a huge margin. The European Product Registry for Energy Labeling (EPREL) gave us the specifics.

The regulator does elaborate battery testing on devices before they hand out the energy labels, and the Z Fold 8 apparently ran for 49:10h on its 4800mAh cell. We also saw a listing for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra on the same database. It has a 5000mAh battery.

That larger cell on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra lasted 51:00h. The exact parameters of these tests weren’t shared by EPREL, but we assume these are idle run times. On a folding phone, this is actually exceptional battery timing. It’s almost a 20% bump over the Z Fold 7 that only did 40:28h. Check the latest Samsung mobile prices and find the perfect Galaxy phone for your budget.

Safe to say, this is exactly the kind of upgrade we’ve been craving for generations on the Galaxy Z Fold series. This isn’t the exact endurance everyone will get, because each person has their own usage pattern, but we believe the Z Folds are finally at the stage when they can be considered a full-day runner.

It’s not just the battery. They’ve put a very energy-efficient Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 3nm chip on these newcomers, which idles at very low power usage. But it does have the potential to drain the battery fast at full load.

Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra have very different display sizes and cameras. One has a wide design, and the other is a bit taller. And we have a 200MP main camera on the Ultra, which is missing from the vanilla model. These handsets will go official on July 22nd at Galaxy Unpacked in London. Keep watching the news for more updates.
