Samsung unveiled the budget-friendly Galaxy A12 in December last year, powered by old entry-level MediaTek silicon. Samsung Galaxy A12s also got rumored earlier and the phone maker has now refreshed the A12 itself with a new edition. Instead of MediaTek, the Galaxy A12 Nacho adopts Samsung’s own Exynos chipset.

Since the Samsung Galaxy A12 Nacho is only a Galaxy A12 with a new chip, the build remains unchanged. While the original featured the low-end Helio P35 platform, the A12 Nacho has the 8nm Exynos 850 at its heart.

You still get 4GB of memory and up to 128GB of expandable internal storage, but the more powerful chip should improve performance. It’s all powered by a 5000 mAh that can fast-charge at 15W. OneUI 3.1, based on Android11, runs on the Galaxy A12 Nacho out of the box.

As for the design, the A12 Nacho joins the Samsung price list with a flat backplate with a subtle duotone finish. Four rear-facing lenses are arranged inside a squarish housing. Plus, a side-facing thumbprint reader doubles as the power button. You can pick from white, black, red, and blue colorways.

The screen is a 6.5” IPS LCD panel with a notch bleeding into it. It delivers a 720P resolution, fills a 20:9 aspect ratio, and houses an 8MP selfie camera. Galaxy A12 Nacho’s quad-camera uses a 48MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide lens, and two 2MP depth and macro sensors.

Samsung Galaxy A12 Nacho debuted in certain European and Russian markets; it should be headed to more regions soon. The base 32GB edition starts from RUB 11,990 (~ Rs. 26,800) but the existing Galaxy A12 with Mediatek chipset is currently retailing at Rs. 32,300 in Pakistan.
