Apple’s Foldable iPhone Set for 2026, Marking the Start of Yearly Successors

The rumored Apple iPhone Fold is inching closer to reality, with an increasing number of industry reports hinting at its development. The latest leak adds an interesting twist. It suggests that Apple plans to follow in Samsung’s footsteps by turning its foldable iPhone into an annual release.

Apple has its own way of doing things, and it usually tends to have an approach opposite to the Android world. The Galaxy Z Fold series is technically the most advanced set of devices Samsung creates. But those are positioned in a niche category, which is rarely visited by an average user.

Reports indicate that Apple doesn’t want to differentiate between its standard iPhones and the foldable ones. Instead, they might position this device as a more premium version of the iPhone Pro and Pro Max. This will be the device with Apple’s most advanced mobile hardware.

And it won’t be a one-and-done deal either. Apple might continue producing more foldable iPhones down the line as yearly releases, much like the rest of the industry. The company is banking on this iPhone latest Fold model to create a new stream of revenue, so we might see more of it in the future.

Other brands have had years to perfect their foldable technology, and the Galaxy Z Fold lineup is almost at a point where people have started to accept those devices as regular daily drivers. Apple might have a tough time penetrating the market, so the company wants to advance in most of the categories where the current foldables are lacking.

Display Crease, for example, is still a sore point among the Z Fold users. The latest Z Fold 6 is also pretty thick when folded. These areas leave a window of opportunity for Apple, and the iPhone Fold might use this advantage with an invisible crease and a thin design, comparable to a standard slab phone.

Apple is already looking into a Samsung display technology that provides a much thinner screen to be used for foldable iPhones. The Korean display maker developed this tech but never implemented it on its Z Fold series. Leaks suggest that this device might be released in 2026 alongside the iPhone 18, so there’s plenty of time for more details to come out. Stay tuned if you don’t want to miss any updates.
