While Apple's iPhone 16 generation is still under wraps, whispers about the iPhone 17 series are already making the rounds. And they're bringing some groundbreaking news. A recent report sheds light on the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, revealing that it will be the trailblazer, sporting a chipset built on TSMC's cutting-edge 2nm process.

TSMC has been prepping the 2nm process since 2022, and the iPhone 17 Pro is slated to be the first device to flaunt this technological marvel. Small-scale production is set to kick off later this year, with mass manufacturing slated to commence by early 2025.

The timelines will perfectly align with the iPhone 17 Pro's anticipated fall release the following year. Moreover, rumors hint that Apple has snagged the full initial batch of TSMC's 2nm process, potentially giving them a leg up in the tech race.

If true, Apple could flex its position as the sole player with access to this super-efficient technology. The company will use it for iPhones, alongside other chipsets like the Apple Silicon M-series. But the innovation continues beyond that as indicated by reports.

Following the 2nm process, an enhanced version is expected by the end of 2026, promising a leap of 1.4nm. However, as with any technology, these timelines are subject to change based on unforeseen circumstances. Achieving these numbers gets increasingly complicated going below.

With AI taking center stage, the iPhone 17 Pro's chipset is poised to pack some serious punch for AI processing. While chipset makers like Qualcomm and MediaTek have been ramping up their AI integration, Apple is expected to follow suit, leveraging the power of its next-gen chipset for enhanced AI performance.
