Apple iPhone 17 Gets a Fresh Coat of Paint with Two Brand-New Color Options

Apple is bound to introduce a few new colors with the iPhone 17 series. A fresh leak from Majin Bu confirms that Apple is internally testing Purple and Green finishes for the vanilla iPhone 17. Both colors are in the running, but only one will make the final cut when the launch day arrives.

Moments after it went viral, the link to the original post was taken down by the owner, but the details and images are still roaming the interwebs. It’s reported that Apple might favor the Purple color for its iPhone 17. The Green finish might not make it to the end product.

The leaker also claims that the front runner for iPhone 17 Pro will be a Sky Blue option. The vanilla iPhone 17 won’t be changing its design this year, so it desperately needs a change of color to appear fresh. The iPhone 17 Pro, although it has a major redesign underway, will still introduce at least one new color choice.

The new color palette is far from the only thing that’s changing. We hear a big display upgrade is coming to the Apple iPhone new models. Ross Young claims that the Apple iPhone 17 could move on from a 6.1” OLED to a bigger 6.3” screen permanently.

Not only are they planning to give this phone a bigger screen, but Apple might finally concede and bring a 120Hz non-variable refresh rate to the base variants. The leaker believes the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will still have the superior ProMotion 120Hz screen and higher brightness than the vanilla model.

We also have some Geekbench scores provided by DCS in one of his recent leaks. Apple A19 Pro is the new silicon mounted inside the latest iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, with a minor performance gap between the two phones. But, on average, this chip competes with a MacBook Air M2.

Geekbench tested the Pro Max variant with nearly 4000 single-core points and close to 10,000 points on the multicore test. This indicates a huge performance boost over the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. We are still trying to uncover more details about the iPhone 17 lineup. Stay tuned if you don’t want to miss anything.
