Apple Foldable iPhone Leaked: Bold Design, Game-Changing Specs Revealed

Apple is secretly working on a foldable device to compete with other big names in the segment. There’s a new leak roaming the web, which claims that the device is real and gives info about its display specs. Both inner and outer screen size/resolution have been tipped by the leaker.

Digital Chat Station, our go-to source for reliable information, posted the details on Weibo, claiming not only that the device is real, but also suggested that it has a 5.49” outer screen and a 7.76” inner display. If true, we might see a similar form factor to Oppo Find N2 or the original Pixel Fold, as far as the display size is concerned.

From what DCS reports, both the inner and the outer screens might have super Retina resolution. The one with a 7.76” size is meant to have at least ~428 ppi pixel density and a 2713 x 1920 resolution. The leaker also says the inner display camera will be hidden under the screen, just like Samsung’s foldable phones.

The iPhone's new foldable model's external display will have an ordinary appearance with a punch hole cutout for the selfie camera, but the real surprise is its hidden selfie camera, which is a technology still in its infancy. Samsung hasn’t been able to tame the hazy image problem with the hidden camera even after multiple generations.

The hidden camera will provide an uninterrupted display, but Apple will need to address the poor camera output to maintain its renowned quality standards. The external display is said to have a 2088 x 1422 resolution on a 5.59” display, almost identical to the 5.4” iPhone 13 Mini from 2021.

The outer screen should bring ~460 pixels per inch density, which makes for extreme visual fidelity and indiscernible pixels at closer distances. Apple’s late to the party, so competing with already established players like Samsung and Pixel will be challenging.

Still, Apple’s usual focus on quality and polish should put its new foldable device on the map without significant challenges. We are excited to see how the company’s iPhone Fold stacks against its major competitor, the Z Fold, and how it addresses the quality concerns over the UD selfie camera for the inner display.
