It’s 11th July, and only 3 days are left till the Chinese launch of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 series. It’s scheduled for the 14th, next week. Each passing day brings a new teaser with new info. The series’ key features are being revealed at a steady pace right now. They just confirmed the screen size for the Redmi Note 17.

It’s the Chinese launch, so they are putting all the teasers on the local social media platform, which is Weibo. They've put more than one posts on Weibo that confirm the Note 17’s screen, which is a full 7” OLED. This means the phone size will be huge.
The industry has been tiptoeing around that screen figure for many years, but there aren’t many phones that have tried to pass the 7” figure. Redmi is the only one brave enough to do it. They already make phones that are in the 6.9” territory, so stretching it to 7” is easy work for them.

Now, that OLED panel itself is 120Hz and the global brightness on it is rated at 1200 nits. It’s a Xiaomi phone, so it obviously has tons of eye protection features and high PWM dimming. And the earlier rumors of a 9000mAh battery on this vanilla handset have been thrown out. By the way, stay informed with daily updated Xiaomi smartphone prices and new releases.
Redmi just verified that the Note 17 actually has an 8000mAh cell, just below the Note 17 Pro’s 9000mAh, which is second only to the Note 17 Pro Max’s 10,100mAh. They even gave up the charging speed on this vanilla sibling: 45W wired input, 22.5W reverse wired output.

There was a separate post by Redmi on Weibo that confirmed a 50MP main shooter on the Note 17, and the camera island clearly has no other lens besides that. By the way, the color that keeps repeating in those teasers is called Meteor Purple.
We’ve been sitting on the Note 17’s benchmark listing for two days. This post seems like a perfect place to spill the tea. There’s a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip on the basic non-Pro version, and the trim Geekbench tested had 12GB RAM. The OS base is Android 16. We’ll do a full coverage upon the Note 17 series launch. Keep watching the news.
