Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G Global Debut Slated for August 1st; Key Specs Unveiled

Redmi is about to unleash a blazing new addition to its mid-range lineup. After the successful launch of the Redmi 12 4G last month, the company has set its sights on the global stage with the Xiaomi Redmi 12 5G variant, and one of the Asian markets will be the lucky host of its grand debut on August 1st.


While Redmi has kept some specs under wraps, they've given us a taste of what to expect. The Redmi 12 5G will feature a mighty 50MP primary camera, backed by a generous 8GB of RAM and a whopping 256GB of storage. The newcomer also packs a 5,000 mAh battery under the shell for prolonged usage.

Regarding design, the phone has an elegant Crystal Glass build and a punch-hole display, providing an immersive visual experience. Backed by a USB-C port, it offers faster charging and data transfers.

Per the Geekbench scoreboard, the Redmi 12 5G boasts Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. The rumors mill claims that the new 5G Xiaomi mobile could be a close cousin of the Redmi Note 12R, with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip, a 5MP selfie shooter, and no ultrawide camera. 


For those eager to learn more, here’s a quick peek into Redmi Note 12R’s specifications for reference. Firstly, the phone has a flat OLED display at 6.67 inches. It refreshes at 120Hz and hosts 12GB RAM with up to 256GB of internal storage.

The Redmi Note 12R features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button. It also provides various essential features, including Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, a 3.5mm audio jack, IR Blaster, and a USB Type-C port. One of the high points of this device is a massive 5,000mAh battery rated for 33W fast charging. Apart from the camera setup, you will find Redmi 12 5G identical to Note 12R.
