Xiaomi’s flagship lineup moved up by a number this year. It jumped from the Xiaomi 15 to the Xiaomi 17 series. The company's Ultra model will adhere to the same moniker. A new leak has confirmed that the new Xiaomi 17 Ultra will arrive two months early this year. We also found the device’s photo kit renders on X.
The Twitter/X poster @kacskrz shared renders of what’s believed to be Xiaomi 17 Ultra. These images will give you a preview of the phone’s new camera kit and a textured case. There’s a circular disc on the back, where the imaging sensors lie.
These renders confirm one more thing that was previously under debate: there’s no rear screen on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. If you want that feature, you may need to stick with the ordinary 17 Pro and Pro Max models.
There are usually four rear lenses on Xiaomi Ultra phones. But we only see three cameras on this latest Xiaomi Ultra model. That seems to be a downgrade over the Xiaomi 15 Ultra. They might get rid of the extra telephoto 3x camera and use that extra space to improve its Main periscope telephoto shooter.
The camera kit will have the usual bottom-mounted camera holder with physical focus and shutter button, and a manual camera mode dial. XiaomiTime reported the camera sensors that might be used on the 17 Ultra model.
The publication believes that several camera configurations are being tested for this model. One of them showed a Main 50MP OVX10500U sensor for the 17 Ultra. A 200MP Samsung ISOCELL S5KHPE telephoto unit is also spotted among the lenses. A third 50MP (OV50M) or 50MP (S5KJN5) ultrawide camera is also coming to this phone.
We may also find a 50MP (Omnivision OV50M) selfie sensor on the Ultra model. Of course, all the hardware is controlled by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This is, after all, the company’s most premium handset. Rumors suggest that the phone will be unveiled in late December, almost two months earlier than its normal schedule.
