In Pakistan, the Y series is mostly about the 4g handsets like the recent Vivo Y31 But globally, there has been a recent slew of new budget 5G phones coming out of China. The latest in this line is the Y52 5G from Vivo. It went official in Europe this week, featuring an elegant design, fast charging, and plenty of storage.

Vivo Y52 5G has a tall 20:9 screen, surrounded by slim bezels and a tear-drop notch. It’s a 6.58” IPS LCD with a sharp 1080P resolution. Flip the phone over to meet a compact camera island resting on a flat shell.

You can pick from the iridescent hue-shifting Dream Glow or the muted and simple Graphite Black. The Y52 5G build also includes a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSD card slot for storage expansion, and a convenient thumbprint scanner merged with the power button.

A cluster of three cameras is laid out inside the camera plate: a 48MP wide lens, a 2MP macro sensor, and a 2MP portrait sensor. The notch has an 8MP selfie camera. Vivo Y52 5G’s camera app can shoot in Super Night, EIS, and portrait modes. Overall a nice addition to the Vivo price list.

It’s all powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip, built on a 7nm process and a 2.2GHz octa-core CPU. A 5000 mAh battery backs up the Y52 5G, supported by 18W fast charging.

The internal hardware is rounded off with 4GB of memory and 128GB of internal storage. Vivo’s FunTouchOS 11, based on Android 11, runs on the Y52 5G right out of the box. The pricing and availability details have not been revealed yet.
