Vivo V20 SE Goes Official With an AMOLED Display, a 32MP Selfie Camera, and 33W Fast Charging

The new design-first V20 series that Vivo introduced this week, featuring the Vivo V20 and V20 Pro, is being rounded off by an SE edition. It shares the sleek build of the other two models but comes in a more affordable package. Let’s take a look.

Instead of housing its front camera inside a wide hole-punch, the Vivo V20 SE has a generic notch stretching into the phone’s 6.44” AMOLED display. It produces an FHD+ resolution and a 90.12% screen-to-body ratio.

The V20 SE frame is 7.83mm thick (excluding the protruding camera bump) and weighs only 171g. The camera plate is just another thin cube with three cameras arranged on top of each other — a sharp turn from the fresh ‘big eye’ camera look its more expensive siblings debuted with.

Unsurprisingly, the back of the Vivo V20 SE is plastic, painted in timeless-but-unimaginative ‘Oxygen Blue’ and ‘Gravity Black’.

Like the Vivo V20 Pro, Portrait photography is still the highlight. Featuring a high-res 32MP front and 48MP rear camera combination, there’s a host of camera modes onboard — from Super Night Selfie and the dedicated Portrait Mode to AI Image Matting that can extract the subject from portraits. The eye-tracking autofocus has been lopped off, however. The additional two cameras on the are an 8MP wide-angle camera and a 2MP depth-mapping sensor for bokeh shots.

In typical Vivo fashion, the S20 SE chipset is the Snapdragon 665 mobile platform from last year, paired with 8GB of memory and 128GB of non-expandable storage. The FunTouchOS 11 running on this hardware does come with the so-called ‘Multi Turbo’ mode, promising to optimize your gaming experience.

To keep the phone slim, the manufacturer cut down on battery capacity which now only reaches 4,100 mAh. It charges over 33 watts technology, giving you a full recharge in roughly an hour. Biometrics are handled by an in-display fingerprint reader. Vivo V20 SE starts from $287 (~ Rs. 47,000), but we haven’t received word on availability yet.
