Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has finally gone official, and just as suspected, it brings the most substantial design upgrade to the Fold series yet. The newcomer gives the Chinese brands a run for their money with a razor-thin 4.2mm body, wider displays, and the same 200MP main camera that’s used for the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The new Armor FlexHinge in the Armor Aluminum frame helped reduce the phone’s thickness to 8.9mm (folded) and 4.2mm in the unfolded state, which is almost as thin as the iPhone 16 Pro Max, by the way. They also shaved a few grams off the Z Fold 7, and it only measures 217 grams now.

An even crazier part is that they used a new type of Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) on the Z Fold 7, which is 50% thicker than before, to deal with the crease on the screen. Speaking of, the Z Fold 7’s inner display measures 8” now, and the cover has grown to 6.5” with a wider 21:9 aspect ratio, which again contends with other foldables from China.

Both inner and outer screens of the Samsung Fold new model are basically Dynamic 2X LTPO AMOLEDs with 1-120Hz refresh rates and 2600 nits peak brightness. The bigger 8.0” one has a 1968 x 2184 pixels resolution with a 90% screen-to-body ratio, and it falls back to a visible 10MP punch-hole camera, which should boost the image quality.

The outer 6.5” AMOLED only has FHD+ resolution, but it does get upgraded to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The selfie sensor on the cover screen is the same 10MP shooter. Those displays, sadly, no longer support the S Pen, which will be a huge let down for some users.

Fold 7 is IP48 rated, which means it is water and dust tight. The rear camera module sees a 200MP main OIS camera for the first time. Samsung pairs that lens with a 10MP 3X telephoto and a new 12MP ultrawide sensor on the back with a 120-degree FOV.

In the chipset department, it gets the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage, among some cheaper memory trims. The Z Fold 7 starts with stable One UI 8 (Android 16) and should allow at least 7 years of OS  and security updates.

This software packs the full Galaxy AI suite and a 6-month Google AI Pro subscription for free. Even though it’s quite thinner than last time, the 4400mAh battery persists with a 25W wired and 15W wireless charge support. All the upgrades did make the phone pricier, though, as the Z Fold 7 brings up the base price to $2000 (~PKR 566,000) for the 12/256GB option.

The 12/512GB trim is priced at $2120 (~PKR 600,000), and the 16/1TB variant bumps it up to $2,420 (~PKR 685,000). Open sales for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 begin on 25th July. The phone is already receiving pre-orders in the US, UK, and Europe.
