Samsung Galaxy S27 Plus May Lose a Key Connectivity Feature Found on Its Predecessor

Samsung Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus will miss out on UWB (ultra-wideband) support. We assume they are doing this to create an even bigger separation between the base models and the upper Pro/Ultra tiers, which will ultimately help the S26 Pro’s position in the series.

All four phones in the Galaxy S27 series grabbed the MIIT certification in China. And that’s where we found this key difference. The Pro and Ultra have UWB. But that’s not exactly the case with the Galaxy S27 or the Samsung Galaxy S27+. Well, the baseline Galaxy S26 was already missing UWB. So its successor treading the same path is hardly a shock.

But the Samsung latest S model had ultra-wideband this year, which means they’ve intentionally barred the S27 Plus from that feature, only to boost the S27 Pro’s value and position. It does make sense from a business standpoint, but it’s unfair to their fans and consumers.

We hope that MIIT certification made a mistake and actually forgot to write UWB on the listing. But that’s rarely the case in our experience. So from here on out, we’ll operate under the assumption that the S27 Plus no longer has UWB or the precise tracking feature that comes with it.

It has to fall back to traditional BT tracking tools, which, by the way, run on Bluetooth 6.0 on the Galaxy S27 Plus. The base phones might also get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro (5.01GHz, 2nm) chip and a mixed stock with Exynos 2700 (2nm).

Of course, they’ll leave One UI 8 behind this year and opt for the Android 17 build with One UI 9 or 9.5 if it’s released by that time. They’ve started M14+ OLED and M16 OLED mass production for the lineup. We assume the whole S27 series is going to launch in early 2027. That is, if everything goes smoothly without hiccups or delays. Keep watching the news for more updates.
