Samsung Galaxy A56 Brings Gemini Side Key Integration with May 2025 Update

Samsung Galaxy A56 is now getting another monthly update, just as we enter the second week of May. With this security patch, the company has added a new feature to the device to summon the Gemini assistant with the side button. This option was exclusive to the S25 series, but from today onwards, Galaxy A56 users can access it as well.

On the Galaxy S25 series, users can launch the Gemini chatbot by holding the power key, once they set it as the default assistant. Sadly, at the time of its debut, this feature was missing on the Galaxy A56, even though the device is clearly positioned as a high-end member of the A series.

The May 2025 security patch brings the much-needed feature to the Galaxy A56 two months after the launch. The update is currently rolling out in Europe, and A56 users can identify it with the build number “A566BXXU3AYDK.” This new update will start landing in other regions soon.

Eventually, the A56 users in Pakistan will also get access to all the May 2025 security patches and the side key integration for Gemini Assistant. Once you install the update, just visit Settings >> Advanced Features >> Side Button. From there, you can choose whether you want to trigger Gemini or Bixby with the side key. Flagship-like AI makes the A56's Samsung smartphone price more compelling.

As always, Pakistani users might need to wait a few days before the May 2025 update completes its cycle in Europe and officially lands in our region. You can always “Check for Updates” by navigating to the Software Updates menu in the Settings. Right now, Gemini is accessible on both Galaxy A56 and A36 from the navigation bar.

The May 2025 update will integrate this shortcut to the power key, though it will be limited to A56 users for the time being. We don’t see any reason why this option should be limited to the higher-end model. Fingers crossed, Samsung will eventually drop Gemini side-key integration on the Galaxy A36 as well.

Galaxy A56 brings Awesome Intelligence, a counterpart to Samsung’s Galaxy AI, which we find on its higher-end S and Z series. The Awesome AI has fewer options, but Samsung might continue to bring over more features from the other side with future updates. So stick around if you want to stay in the loop.
