Xiaomi’s Redmi Note series is their best-selling budget lineup. Even two years after its debut, the Redmi Note 8 continues to fly off the shelves at an affordable Xiaomi mobile price. This value phone just crossed the 25 million sales mark — as reported by the brand on Twitter. Seeing its popularity, Xiaomi is refreshing the Note 8 with a 2021 edition.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 was first launched in 2019 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. Its re-release is more focused on performance based on the official teaser.

No other details were formally announced, but the rumor mill clued us in on the specifications almost a week ago.

The American FCC recently certified the new Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 2021 under the model number “M1908C3JGG.” This year, Xiaomi is going for MediaTek silicon — the gaming G85 chip, to be exact. The 4000 mAh battery from the original Redmi Note 8 hasn’t changed, but the 2021 variant will support 22.5W fast charging, as opposed to 18W.

According to the Twitter-based phone leaker @Xiaomiui, the OS has been upgraded to the latest MIUI 12.5 (built on Android11.) A high screen refresh rate is also in the cards. However, the Redmi Note 8 2021 will be limited to certain European and Asian markets. The rest of the specs remain untouched for the most part.

To review, the Redmi Note 8 features a versatile quad-camera: a 48MP wide lens, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and two 2MP macro and depth-mapping sensors. For an old-gen phone, this Redmi Note has a surprisingly slim chin. The shell is crafted from glass and toughened with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and back. The display reaches a sharp full HD resolution and a compact 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
