Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 2021 Officially Teased in a Promo; Here's Your First Look at this Upcoming Redmi

To commemorate their milestone of selling over 25 million Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 units all over the world, Xiaomi is soon releasing a special edition of the phone. This Redmi Note 8 2021 is a mild refresh of the original 2019 Note, meant for select markets. Here’s your first official look at it.

The launch timeline is still being kept under wraps, but we get a peek at the phone’s design in a promo poster that Xiaomi tweeted. As suspected, the Redmi Note 8 2021 has the build and body of the original phone but with new internal hardware. We’re looking at the same notched design and reduced. The glass shell is presumably retained too.

It’s still an IPS LCD, but rumor has it that Xiaomi has upgraded the panel to refresh at 120Hz. From the phone’s public certification documents, we know that it runs on the MediaTek Helio G8t along with other key specs. You can find these listings on the FCC database under the model number “M1908C3JGG.”

Xiaomi mew model 2021 is powered by a 4,000 mAh battery. The high refresh feature will undoubtedly hog resources and slow the phone down when not powered by an equally high-end chip. The same goes for the below-average battery packed inside the Redmi Note 8 2021.

The first Note 8 launched with 18W fast-charging; that too has been stepped up to 22.5W. The Note 8 2021 will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage options, supported by 4GB of memory for multitasking.

Lastly, Redmi Note 8 2021 ships with the latest MIUI 12. Since the original Note 8 was plagued with software bugs, we can only hope the special edition is better optimized.
