Realme Note 80 Certified by SIRIM on its Way to Launch; Expect 15W Charging

The six-month period for the Note 70 has almost come to a close, and Realme has a replacement for this phone. Realme Note 80 should launch soon, now that it has received SIRIM certification in Malaysia. This is everything we know about the Note 80 so far.

SIRIM cleared it with a model number RMX5388. The code itself isn’t a surprise, because we’ve seen it before on TKDN and EEC certifications. But the Malaysian Authority has tied this model to the product name Realme Note 80.

We can now openly confirm that the RMX5388 (AKA Realme Note 80) is meant to be a global phone. It’s obviously planned for the Malaysian market, but is also headed off to Indonesia (TKDN’s origin) and in Europe (EEC’s origin).

There was another listing for this Realme new Note model. The Element Materials Technology database is where the Realme Note 80 gave away its 15W charging input. So they kept the same lousy charging speed as the Note 70. Perhaps there are more similarities between them.

This will be an entry-level phone, and in our experience, not a lot changes across generations. Realme Note 70 already has a decent enough 6300mAh battery that fits in a 7.9mm frame. And its screen is an LCD 6.74” panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution is capped at 720p.

Maybe Realme Note 80 will default to Android 16 x Realme UI 7. That’s a reasonable assumption. The older Note 70 handset had an Unisoc T7250 chip, which doesn’t perform well under heavy load. If they insist on using it again, we’d love to have the Android 15 or 16 Go Edition on it.

The selfie camera isn’t great either on the Note 70. It was only 5MP. The rear camera was somewhat decent with 13MP resolution. Of course, there was also a side fingerprint ID here, and an IP54 rating to splash-proof the body. Surely, the Note 80’s specs should begin to appear in leaks. We’ll let you know if the company has any upgrades planned for it. Keep watching the news.
