OPPO quietly launched a new entry-level A-series phone in Pakistan today. The Oppo A16 is now available in stores, but no official announcements were made. We have the pricing and features to report.
The OPPO A15 successor sports an uninspired, generic design. Its 3D polycarbonate shell is chamfered. Oppo offers new A16 in Pearl Blue, Crystal Black, and Space Silver finishes — all frosted and fingerprint resistant. At 190g of weight and 8.4mm of depth, the phone doesn’t have the most lightweight dimensions.
Three lenses and an LED flash are encased inside a raised camera platform. We’re looking at an array of one 13MP wide and two 2MP lenses. OPPO A16 lacks a dedicated night mode. But the camera app supports portrait and bokeh modes. The power button, housed inside the frame, doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
Flip the Oppo A16 over to find a notched screen. It’s a 6.52” IPS LCD that peaks at a low contrast ratio, a 720P resolution, and a pixel density of 269 PPI. No Corning Gorilla Glass protects this display, so all in all, it’s an underwhelming setup. The notch of the new addition to the Oppo price list contains an 8MP front camera. Also, the chin has a lot of weight to it.
It’s all powered by a long-lasting 5000 mAh battery. Oppo A16 promises 21 hours of streaming on a single charge. No quick-charging support is available here, but the phone is optimized to safely charge overnight (it slows down battery degradation.) The MediaTek Helio G35 is at the heart of the phone.
OPPO A16 comes in a single 3GB+32GB edition. ColorOS 11 runs on this hardware out of the box. One 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port are also part of the build. It starts from Rs. 23,999.
