After a slew of leaks, the long-awaited OnePlus 8 series has finally been announced. OnePlus’ official Twitter handle has announced that the upcoming flagship duo is arriving on April 14. The event would be exclusively virtual, where the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be unveiled.

OnePlus has upgraded the 90Hz display from last year’s OnePlus 7 Pro, to a 120Hz AMOLED panel that delivers a QHD+ resolution. The base variant maxes out at a 90Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution. The ‘Pro’ edition will rock a quad-camera, while the standard version is to feature a triple-camera setup. The ensemble will offer up to 30x digital zoom.

Previous leaks point to a punch-hole design, as opposed to the pop-up module that the OnePlus 7 featured. The build will support IP68 dust and water resistance with this iteration. The sources also suggest that it’ll come in green, black, and ‘Interstellar Glow’ colors.

Oppo has confirmed that both models will be powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset, with support for 5G connectivity. The exact battery details haven’t been specified, but it will come with reverse wireless charging. More to the point, the OnePlus 8 series will support fast wireless charging – the first OnePlus to debut with this feature. The hardware will run a brand-new OxygenOS based on Android 10.

Credible reports claim that a third budget model, supposedly dubbed OnePlus Z, will also be making an appearance on April 14. That being said, there’s next to no details leaked yet, and it also remains to be officially confirmed.
