HMD Global is at it again; another Nokia G22 is about to pop out. Typical to routine, authoritative listings have started surfacing. The latest one is from Geekbench’s database, revealing the phone’s details. Here’s a deep dive into what you can expect from this device.

Geekbench marked this phone under its product name, NOKIA G22. Successor to Nokia G21, the phone looks to have nearly no difference in performance. The document reports several of the newcomer’s features; we’ll mainly focus on the onboard CPU, RAM, and Android version. Let’s have a look.

Let’s start with the SoC. According to the benchmark, Nokia G22 has an ARM Unisoc chip mounted on a Sunfire motherboard. The chip seems to have a below-standard base frequency of 1.61 GHz. Expect core performance on this phone to be low-end, boasting 308 on single core and 1094 points on all eight.

The precursor showed almost identical scores on its listing; we assume the newcomer is housing the same Unisoc Tiger 606 chip. There’s no report yet to confirm the fact, though one thing is sure: The G22 will carry an upgraded 4GB RAM and the Nokia mobile price will be a factor to consider when evaluating the new device.

The new HMD Global device brings Android 12 as a default OS. Nokia phones offer surprisingly good after-sales services, which means multiple security patches and at least one major update will make it the new G22.

Upgrading to this phone will benefit the users in only one way. Nokia G22 should receive Android 13 and likely Android 14 in the future, whereas Nokia G21 users will end up with updates limited to Android 13. No way to tell for sure. The company promises two years of software updates at the time, which could change in the future.
