Huawei P40 Lite to Launch Soon as the Cheapest 5G member of the new P40 Series

Huawei rebranded the Nova 6 SE as Huawei P40 Lite for the European market back in February. And the ever-expanding Huawei P40 family is now to be joined by a brand-new Huawei P40 Lite 5G – reported to be a rehashed Nova 7 SE by the German publication WinFuture.de.

While Huawei is marketing it as a P40 edition, the upcoming P40 Lite 5G doesn’t share its design, build, or internals with the original P40 trio. Its 6.5” IPS LCD panel (a feature typical of mid-range Huawei phones) is punched in the corner and delivers an FHD+ resolution – skirted, of course, by thin modern bezels and an affordable Huawei price tag.

Go around the back panel to find a lengthened camera bump, featuring a 64MP (f/1.8) primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth-assist sensor – stacked on top of each other. The selfie camera inside the punch hole has a 16MP sensor behind the Huawei new model.

The paint jobs on the rear shell vary drastically from the highly iridescent Crush Green to the soft-but-glossy Space Silver and the deep Midnight Black.

A Huawei-made Kirin 820 5G processor runs things behind the scenes, (possibly) in combination with up to 8GB of memory and 128GB/256GB of storage -- at least that’s the configuration the Nova 7 SE debuted with in China. The rebranded global edition might feature a different combo.

The Huawei P40 Lite 5G will be backed by a 4,000 mAh battery that can be powered up with 40W fast charging – that can charge your phone from 0% to 70% in only thirty minutes. Android 10, customized with the EMUI 10 powers this hardware. Note that it’s shipped with HMS (Huawei Mobile Services), and not GMS (Google Mobile Services).

The pricing or availability details haven’t been announced yet, but the source expects the phone to start at €400 (~70,000 PKR).
