Apple’s folding phone, which might be tentatively called an iPhone Fold, is already seven generations behind Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series. There’s a chance that Apple will debut this folding device next year, but nothing can be said for sure. Some reports still suggest a 2027 launch. Anyway, we’ve found a leak today that exposed the iPhone Fold’s battery capacity.
The reporter on the Naver blog put the fold’s battery size into perspective by comparing it with the iPhone 17 Pro Max. By the way, if you didn’t know about the Pro Max’s capacity, it is 4823mAh for the physical SIM option and 5088mAh for the eSIM version.
The Naver leaker pegs the iPhone Fold battery capacity between 5,400 mAh and 5,800 mAh. That beats the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in endurance hands down. Samsung’s still using a 4,400mAh pack for its current Z Fold.
It gets even better. This is just an early prototype, according to the leak. iPhone Air went through the same phase. Its early test units used a smaller battery. But in the end, Apple was able to bump the capacity to 3149 mAh in the final product.
There’s a chance that the battery capacity on the iPhone latest Fold model will cross 6000mAh in the final prototype. But we advise caution, as this leak might not pan out due to its early nature. The plans are ever-changing, especially at Apple’s, so take this news with a hint of salt.
Some other reports from the past have suggested that the iPhone Fold could use a main 7.58” screen with a 5.38” cover panel. Again, this device could be smaller than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, yet the leaker suggests it has a significantly bigger battery.
Naver leaker foreshadowed that this battery advantage could come at the cost of added weight and thickness on the iPhone Fold. There’s still plenty of time for more details to appear. So keep an eye out for more leaks on the iPhone Fold.
