While the iPhone 16 series is still a distant lineup, recent leaks and renders suggest that Apple is experimenting with significant design changes for the base iPhone 16, internally codenamed "DeLorean." The leaked prototype shots, unveiled by MacRumors, showcase potential variations in the series' look and button placement.

The first render, presented in yellow, features a camera setup reminiscent of the iPhone X, with a vertical pill shape accommodating dual camera lenses. This departure from their recent monotonous designs hints at Apple's exploration of new visual elements for the upcoming model.

Notably, the yellow prototype introduces a unified volume rocker button, a departure from the separate volume up and down buttons traditionally seen on iPhones since 2010. The redesign aims to streamline the physical controls for a more cohesive appearance.

Additionally, all three renders incorporate capacitive Action Buttons above the volume rocker. The black model stands out with a sizable button, adding a distinctive touch to its appearance. It takes innovation further with a second capacitive Capture Button below the power button.

Internally referred to as "Project Nova," this button is rumored to provide force touch feedback while serving as a dedicated shutter button for the camera. If implemented, the Capture Button could enhance the photography experience on the iPhone 16 series.

While these prototype renders set the scene for new iPhone 16 designs, it's essential to note that the final appearance may undergo further refinements before its official unveiling. Apple devotees eagerly await more insights and details about the upcoming lineup while its development progresses.
