The anticipation for the iPhone 16 lineup continues to build. A recent leak has potentially unveiled a major design shift in iPhone 16’s camera configuration. Majin Bu, an X user known for sharing reliable iPhone design details, posted an image showcasing the rear camera enclosure of the standard Apple iPhone 16 model.

The image reveals a vertical camera layout, a departure from the diagonal tray found in the current iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models. Industry sources have independently verified the authenticity of this leak, adding credibility to the potential design change.

MacRumors, through its industry sources, has corroborated the validity of these components, confirming it as the main camera chassis for the I-34 camera project intended for the base model iPhone 16, set to release later this year.

While Apple has employed vertical camera arrangements in previous models like the iPhone X and iPhone 12, this rumored change aligns with various leaks and prototype images hinting at an updated camera design for Apple's upcoming iPhone models. Beyond cosmetic changes, speculation suggests that this shift could have functional implications.

One potential outcome is the availability of Apple's Spatial Video feature beyond the Pro models. Spatial Video enables 3D video capture, viewable with Apple Vision Pro. Once introduced to the standard iPhone 16, the feature could broaden the device’s appeal, though Apple has not officially confirmed this.

It's crucial to mind the reliability of these leaks, even those with verified components, does not guarantee Apple's final plans. However, the growing evidence points towards a notable shift in the iPhone 16's camera design. Stay tuned for more updates on the upcoming iPhone 16 and its other premium siblings.
